Housing associations' 2010/11 rent calculations will be based on a Retail Price Inflation figure of -1.4 per cent, it was revealed today.
September's RPI was -1.4 per cent, the Office for National Statistics announced.
Housing association rents are based on the rate of RPI inflation in the previous September, plus 0.5 per cent.
This means that RSLs face rent decreases of -0.9 per cent for 2010/11 at best.
Housing association business plans must now be adjusted to take account of the drop in cash flow.
