Former Clarion CEO joins top real estate firm

CBRE hires ex-Clarion chief executive Keith Exford to lead affordable housing business

Mr Exford announced his retirement as chief executive of Clarion last year before formally stepping down from the role earlier this month.

He was instrumental in 2016’s merger between Affinity Sutton and Circle Housing Group, which created Clarion. The 125,000-home association is the largest social landlord in the UK.

Mr Exford has joined CBRE as a consultant for affordable housing and housing associations. The appointment suggests that CBRE will look to strengthen its housing association business, with Mr Exford set to develop and lead the firm’s strategy in the sector.

Stephen Hubbard, chairman of CBRE UK, said: “We are delighted that Keith will be bringing his wealth of experience in the affordable housing sector to CBRE.

“The UK’s largest housing Associations have become genuine rivals to the UK’s most dominant housebuilders and developers in terms of land acquisitions and volume of delivery.

“This provides an exciting opportunity for our advisory business and Keith will be an invaluable asset as we look to grow in this sector, enhancing our capability to better serve our clients.”
