Essex-based housing association CHP has promoted Paul Edwards to the newly created role of deputy chief executive and chief financial officer.
Mr Edwards has held the position of director of resources at CHP for the past three years, and was instrumental in obtaining the company’s ‘A’ credit rating from Standard & Poor’s, regaining the top ‘G1’ grading from the Regulator of Social Housing in March 2018 as well as successfully delivering the issue of retained bonds in late 2017.
The appointment comes six months after CHP recruited Mary Gibbons as its chief executive.
Ms Gibbons said: “Since working with Paul, I have been really impressed, particularly in terms of his knowledge, technical expertise and his ability to lead.”
Mr Edwards said: “I am delighted to take on this new role at CHP at such an exciting time for the organisation. The strength of CHP is its people, who are enthusiastic and passionate about providing homes and services for our customers and communities across Essex.
“I am looking forward to working with Mary, our board of trustees and my executive management team colleagues to drive forward CHP in the housing sector, helping to provide much-needed affordable homes for more people throughout Essex.”
As well as his role at CHP, Mr Edwards is currently an audit committee member at Local Space in Newham, a member of the National Housing Federation’s Finance Policy Advisory Group and a member of the SORP Working Party.
