Albyn Housing Society partnered contractor Bancon Construction on the £7.5m Balvonie Braes development.

The association has plans in place to deliver 750 new homes in the Highlands by 2020.

The Balvonie Braes scheme was supported both by the Scottish Government and £54,000 of financing from the Inverness and Highland City-Region Deal.

At least 30 of the homes on the development will be available at social rent, with nine at mid-market rent and a further four through the Low Cost Initiative for First Time Buyers (LIFT) scheme administered by Albyn’s mid-market housing partner, Highland Residential.

Construction began this month and the scheme is expected to complete in January 2020.

Calum Macaulay, Albyn’s chief executive, said: “Our main commitment as a housing society has always been to bring high-quality homes to those who need it most. Our new partnership with Bancon Construction will help us to further our commitment to support sustainable communities and bring more quality housing to the Highlands.”

The Inverness and Highland City-Region Deal will see the Scottish Government commit up to £135m and the UK government a further £53.1m to deliver digital healthcare, skills, innovation and infrastructure to the region.
