The Housing Finance Corporation is the UK’s leading aggregator for the affordable housing sector. A not-for-profit institution, THFC was founded in 1987 to help housing associations access capital markets funding. In its thirty-three year history THFC has become a trusted name and provided loans to over 160 housing associations through bond issuance totalling over £7billion. In 1998 THFC introduced the European Investment Bank to the sector and innovated some of the earliest green loans for stock improvements and the development of environmentally sustainable homes. Through its subsidiary, Affordable Housing Finance, THFC runs the Government’s affordable homes guarantee scheme in which it achieved some of the lowest funding costs ever seen by housing associations. In 2018 THFC launched its latest product, bLEND, to provide streamlined access to competitively priced funding for housing associations throughout the UK. THFC remains committed to its core mission of facilitating the provision of quality and affordable housing. To date in Scotland, the Group has lent over £160m of long term funding to 10 housing associations.
